Spring pollen season is here

With the arrival of warm weather (finally,) spring pollen season has arrived as well. For those of you with tree pollen allergy, now is the time to be taking measures to control your allergy symptoms. Avoidance measures, such as keeping windows closed and A/C running, showering in the evening to remove pollen that has collected in your hair before bedtime, and avoiding outdoor activities on high pollen days can all help. Taking your medications on a regular basis is also very important, especially nasal corticosteroid sprays (such as Nasonex, Flonase, Veramyst, etc,) which only work well if taken daily. Taking antihistamines daily is also more effective than taking them only as needed. If you receive allergen immunotherapy (allergy shots,) make sure you are sticking to your schedule. Please see this spring allergy information sheet from the AAAAI for more information. Call us at Allergy & Asthma Care of Fairfield County if your allergies are not well controlled.
